“My work is about the suffocation of black people within the past and present of America, and the hope to come. In my interpretation, my subject is hanging cold as she, like many individuals, has been murdered by lynching. The red and blue lights represent the last light many people see before they are unjustly killed by the police. Her spirit lives within her third eye. The eye in the center of her forehead is the symbol of her wisdom and her guidance for those that come after her.”
